When should I replace the wick?
Do not keep burning the wick for more than 10 seconds at a time. When the wick burns red and becomes shorter, it cannot absorb enough liquid and is difficult to ignite.
Follow these steps to extend or replace the wick:
1. Use pliers to pull out the steel scraper.
2. Pull out the wick slowly, if the wick is too short to wrap around the scraper, please replace the wick.
3. Place the scraper back into the middle of the wick and gently hammer it back into the pipe.
4. The exposed part of the wick should be at least half the length of the exposed scraper.
Important
To successfully ignite, follow the instructions below
1. Unscrew the firing pin counterclockwise and refill with oil. (Don't add too much oil. To test the best oil level, turn the lighter upside down and the oil will not leak easily.)
2. Place the end of the striker at a 45 degree angle to the magnesium rod.
3. Apply pressure and scrape down the steel rod.
4. Ignite.
